Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is confident his side are still in with a chance of finishing in the Premier League top four this season.

The Gunners secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday through goals by through goals by Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott, and Olivier Giroud, to keep their top four hopes alive.

The 67-year-old manager admits that Arsenal are coming off the back of a slump in form and he insists that his side’s defensive work have not been ‘efficient’ enough.

Wenger says he will remain positive ahead of their next match after scoring more than 100 goals already this season.

‘We had difficult games and somebody just reminded me that we have scored more than 100 goals already this season, so going forward we have always been good, but defensively in recent weeks, we were not efficient enough,’ Wenger told the Arsenal website.

However, the French manager believes the gunners still stands a good chance of finishing in the Premier League top four this season following their convincing victory over London rivals West Ham at the Emirates Stadium.

‘It’s possible of course. We have a game in hand on City, we have players back from injury, we had a strong bench tonight,’ He added.

‘We have done it before, in more difficult conditions, and we have to try to do it again, yes.’

The Gunners are currently placed fifth in the Absa Premiership standing with 54 points, having won 16 out of their 29 matches played so far this season, level on points with Manchester United in sixth and four points behind Manchester City in fourth.

Arsenal will next take on Crystal Palace when the two sides meet in the Premier League on Monday.

The match at Selhurst Park kicks off at 21:00.
