Aston Villa have agreed to sign Belgium international midfielder Youri Tielemans from relegated side Leicester City.

After four years at Leicester, which will play in the Championship next season, Villa said the 26-year-old will join them on July 1.

The club’s website said, “Aston Villa is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to sign Youri Tielemans.

“The Belgian international will officially become a Villan on July 1 after his contract with Leicester City has expired.”

Tielemans started his career with the Belgian team Anderlecht. He then moved to the French team Monaco.

After doing well on loan for the second half of the previous season, he moved to Leicester in July 2019 for £40 million.

He played for the Foxes for a total of 195 games and scored 28 goals, including the game-winning goal from a long distance in the 2021 FA Cup final against Chelsea, which the Foxes won 1-0.

He was in the finals of the 2018 World Cup, the 2022 World Cup, and the Euro 2020 for Belgium.

After getting into the Europa Conference League, Villa will play in a European game for the first time in 13 years next season.
