SoccerClub selects the Premier League Team of the Week after Jamie Vardy’s treble inspired Leicester to a win over Manchester City, writes DEAN WORKMAN.

Formation: 3-4-3

Goalkeeper: David de Gea (Manchester United)

In the weekend’s big game Manchester United took on Tottenham Hotspur in what was already a must win game for the hosts.  Their two-time Player of the Season, David de Gea, was in inspired for as the Spanish stopper kept a clean sheet, pulling off a number of high class saves to guide his team to victory.

Defender: Hector Bellerin (Arsenal)

Making his return from injury, Bellerin put in a superb performance this weekend. The young defender was solid at the back and was a constant threat going forward, setting up Theo Walcott for the all important leveller in their 3-1 victory.

Defender: Phil Jones (Manchester United)

After being on the sidelines through injury over the past couple of seasons, Jones has fought his way back into the Manchester United team and is taking his chance. The England international put in a solid display as his no nonsense, body-on-the-line brand of defending helped keep the Spurs at bay at Old Trafford.

Defender:  Virgil van Djik (Southampton)

The Dutch defender put in yet another impressive performance. Southampton needed to bounce back after defeat last weekend and in a tight game, it was Van Djik who stood tallest as the Saints kept a long overdue clean sheet.

Left wing: Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace)

In a difficult season for Palace, Zaha has been a shining light and he continued his good form this weekend. The winger played a part in all three of his side’s goals to help earn a point for his team in a six goal thriller. Zaha won the penalty for the first goal, scored a brilliant second goal and provided a perfect cross for the late leveller.

Centre midfield: Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea)

The Swans main man was at it again to help his team to a vital three points. The Iceland star rifled home the first goal of the game from the penalty spot and then provided an assist from a corner. Sigurdsson will undoubtedly have to keep up his fine performances if Swansea are to avoid the drop this season.

Centre midfield: Mesut Ozil (Arsenal)

The German midfielder put in a world class performance as his beautifully taken goal helped guide his team to a 3-1 victory. Ozil’s scored after a brilliant pass found his deft run and he managed to lob the keeper with his header to put Arsenal in the lead, his goal proved to be the catalyst in another victory for the North London side.

Right wing: Henrik Mkhitarayan (Manchester United)

The Armenian midfielder has not had the ideal start to life at United, but in recent weeks he has been back in the team and his performances have proved why United spent so much money on him. Mkhitarayan scored his first goal at Old Trafford as his Man of the Match performance helped United to a 1-0 victory.

Striker: Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

Vardy and his Leicester team have struggled to reproduce last season’s performances. This weekend, however, Vardy and Leicester were back as they thumped Manchester City 4-2 with Vardy scoring a scintillating hat-trick. Vardy scored two goals in the first half before sealing his treble and the victory late on.

Striker: Stefano Okaka (Watford)

The big Italian put in an impressive performance as his two goals saw his team to a 3-2 victory over Everton. Okaka scored the equaliser for his side with a brilliant back-heel flick and then scored his second with a well-placed header to help his side to a vital win.

Striker: Fernando Llorente (Swansea)

Llorente put in another fine performance as his two goals saw his side to a 3-0 victory. His first goal came from a corner as his smart finish found the bottom corner to make it 2-0, the Spanish striker then sealed the victory with a back post header on 80 minutes as the Swans picked up a vital 3 points.
