SoccerClub editor Wade Pretorius challenges Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth to test his Premier League knowledge.

UPDATE: Booth proved to be a worthy opponent but came up short against our expert in what turned out to be a closely fought contest. The former Sundowns and Ajax defender correctly predicted a draw in the United vs West Ham encounter but could not get the exact score. Booth did however pick up the bonus points for correctly predicting six correct results to finish with a total of 9 points. Our pro, who has only tasted defeat twice this season, ran away with the week after accumulating seven correct picks with two correct scores for a total of 14 points.

Booth thinks fondly of London club West Ham United, after spending some time on trial there during Harry Redknapp’s reign.

Unfortunately for Booth his parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns, scuppered the deal by asking too much to part with their prized asset.

Perhaps that is the reason for his pick of 2-2 when West Ham visit Manchester United in week 13.

In the game of the weekend, Chelsea hosting Spurs, the former Rostov defender believes London will be painted blue.

‘Chelsea defensively have been fantastic with 3-4-3 as Azpilicueta and Kante have given Moses free reins down right side,’ Booth explains his pick of 3-1 in favour of Antonio Conte’s side.

‘If Pochettino persists with Dembele at right wing then he is asking for trouble,’ adds the former national team star, who appears regularly on local TV screens as a football analyst.

Premier League week 13:

Burnley 1-3 Manchester City (Wade: 1-3)

Swansea 0-1 Crystal Palace (Wade: 2-1)

Manchester United 2-2 West Ham (Wade: 2-0)

Southampton 1-2 Everton (Wade: 2-1)
