Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany says his side have to cast aside their stalemate with Middlesbrough and focus on their next three home games in the Premier League.

The Blues are battling to keep their place in the Premier League top four, with rivals Manchester United hot on their heels, trailing them by a point.

With four games left to play, Kompany believes that playing in front of their own supporters will guarantee City’s hopes of securing their Champions League spot next season.

‘We have three home games now and we’ll need our fans behind us to push us over the line, and to make sure we can look forward to next season in a way that’s exciting,’ Kompany told the Manchester City website.

‘There’s not one single doubt in our minds that we’ll get the job done.

‘It’s [home form] not going to be a problem anymore. I fiercely believe that playing at home gives a big advantage to teams and we have to look at it that way.’

The Belgian international added that he will continue to push towards improving his performance after recently returning from injury, but also helping the team gain success in the future.

‘I want to keep going,’ he added.

‘It’s not about my comeback any more. It’s about pushing the team forward and keeping my level of play at the level it’s been.

‘If I can progress on that then I’ll be looking forward to another really great couple of years, and I’m doing everything I can for that.’

Manchester City will next take on Crystal Palace when the two sides lock horns in the Premier League on Saturday.

The match at the Etihad Stadium kicks off at 13:30.
