Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits that Adam Lallana’s injury will be ‘hard’ for the club as the influential midfielder prepares for a stint on the sidelines.

The 28-year-old has been influential in the Reds squad this campaign, and has managed to score seven goals and a further seven assists from 31 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

The Southampton midfielder recently sustained a thigh problem while on international duty with the England national team. Lallana will be sidelined for a number of Reds matches, starting with their crucial Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday.

The German manager admits that it’s hard for the Reds to be without Lallana at this crucial stage of the season, as they battle for a place for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

‘It’s hard for us, of course,’ Klopp told the Liverpool website.

‘How it is in this moment in the season if you lose a player for three or four weeks, it’s around about eight games – or six or seven games. It’s a lot and it’s hard.’

Liverpool are set to take on Everton in their Merseyside derby when the two sides meet in the Premier League on Saturday.

The match at Anfield kicks off at 13:30.
