Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is set to serve a three-match suspension after he admitted to an FA charge of violent conduct.

The 35-year-old will now miss the Red Devils FA Cup tie against Chelsea, followed by their Premier League matches against Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion respectively.

The Swedish striker is set to return in time for their matches against Everton at Old Trafford on April 4, but remains eligible for the Reds Devils Europa League clashes with Rostov on Thursday.

The former Barcelona Striker has missed only one Premier League game all season up to this point, following his side’s stalemate against Arsenal back in November 2016.

The FA have released the following statement on the matter:

‘Zlatan Ibrahimovic will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of violent conduct and accepted the standard penalty.

‘It follows an incident in or around the 44th minute of the game between Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth on Saturday (4 March 2017).

‘The misconduct was not seen by the match officials at the time but caught on video.’

The towering striker has had a firing start to life in England, having already scored 26 goals and assisted a further seven from 39 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
