Arsenal climbed to third place in the Premier League after a comfortable 4-0 win over Swansea City.

Paul Clement’s home debut as Swansea manager started brightly and Petr Cech was forced to save from Kyle Naughton, but Arsenal led at half-time when Olivier Giroud finished from close range on 38 minutes.

After the break Arsenal’s renewed pressure was rewarded when Alex Iwobi’s shot deflected off Jack Cork, looped over Lukasz Fabianski and into the net.

Iwobi was involved in Arsenal’s third, his cross going in off Naughton on 66 minutes. Alexis Sanchez made it 4-0 on 73 minutes, volleying in from close range.

Swansea remain bottom on 15 points, a point from safety.

In the afternoon’s remaining fixtures, Watford and Middlesbrough went scoreless, West Ham put three unanswered goals pasts Crystal Palace, Hull beat Bournemouth 3-1 while there were wins for Stoke away at Sunderland, also 3-1, and for Burnley who needed a Joey Barton winner to see off Southampton.
