Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus following his performance against Swansea City on Sunday.

The Blues claimed a 2-1 victory over the Swans at the Etihad Stadium, with Gylfi Sigurdsson’s goal cancelling out Jesus 11th minute opener before but City’s all but sealed the win in the 92nd minute when Jesus completed his brace.

The 46-year-old manager has showered Jesus with praised and has insisted that the 19-year-old has earned his place in the City’s first team squad.

‘Gabriel Jesus made again a lot of things happen with and without the ball. In the box, he has the instinct to score goals. He is a fighter and is only 19 and that’s why we’re delighted with what he’s done so far,’ Guardiola told the Manchester City website.

‘There are 19 year-olds who are physically strong and some who aren’t. That guy in the box has something special. His first touch is good but his second or third touch has to improve.

‘He’s so intelligent and we are surprised because sometimes guys need a lot of time to settle and with others it’s immediate. There are a lot of games, we will see. Now he deserved to be in the team but we’ll see what happens in the next game.’

Manchester City will next take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on Monday.

The match at the Vitality Stadium kicks off at 22:00.
