Chelsea stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League to 13 points as Gary Cahill’s late goal helped the Blues to a 2-1 win away at Stoke City.

Willian’s free-kick on 13 minutes eluded Lee Grant at the near post to give the visitors the lead.

The home side equalised, courtesy of Jonathan Walters’ penalty after the Irishman went down in the box following contact with Cahill.

Marcos Alonso’s free-kick hit the bar and Grant denied Pedro as the visitors cranked up the pressure after the break.

Chelsea’s efforts were rewarded as Cahill atoned for his earlier mistake by scoring the winner with only three minutes remaining.

Phil Bardsley’s late red card compounded matters for Mark Hughes’ side, who stay ninth in the table.

In other results, Everton beat Hull 4-0, Sunderland drew 0-0 with Burnley, Palace edged Watford 1-0 while Leicester won 3-2 at West Ham.
