Richards Bay FC created the biggest upset in the competition’s history when they knocked Orlando Pirates out on penalties at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, but now turn their attention to Stellenbosch FC when the sides meet in the semi-final on December 2.

The match ended on a goalless draw and then proceeded to the penalties where the Natal Rich Boys won by 5-4.

The victory takes them straight to the semi-final and they will play against Stellenbosch.

After a 2-0 win over Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Stellenbosch are the early top contenders for the title which could be their first as they were eliminated in the Nedbank Cup and MTN 8 semi-finals. Richards Bay would be looking for their first final since being promoted to the flight last season, however, both have never won a cup competition.
