Kaizer Chiefs cruised to a 3-0 win over Elgeco Plus in their Caf Confederations Cup second-leg second round tie on Saturday afternoon in Antananarivo to progress to the play-off round of the competition.

Amakhosi came into the game with a comfortable lead after the comprehensive 3-0 win in the first leg last weekend at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

A Leonardo Castro double and a cracking strike by Philani Zulu gave the Glamour Boys their comprehensive victory, but they headed into the game in Madagascar without the services of star man Khama Billiat, who was ruled out with a hip muscle strain.

The game started off in a tentative fashion with both teams looking to assert themselves in what was promising to be a tense midfield battle.

The first half was proving rather uneventful as both teams struggled to create any chances of note.

0-0 at the half-time break, the Soweto giants still firmly in control thanks to their aggregate lead.

Things started to open up for Chiefs in the second half and they finally took the lead in the 70th minute as Hendrick Ekstein combined with Bernard Parker before firing past the Elgeco keeper.

11 minutes later and Chiefs had their second as Ryan Moon’s header hit the back of the net to put them firmly in control.

The floodgates were well and truly open as Ekstein then netted his second of the day in the 86th minute to put his side three ahead.

Chiefs progress to the next round with a 6-0 aggregate win and will form a part of the 16 winners of this round in the Caf Confederations Cup, They will now be drawn against the 16 losers of the Caf Champions League second round ties to form the play-off round.
