Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed that Themba Zwane has been ruled out for their trip to Al Ahly Benghazi in the first round of the Caf Champions League.

The 29-year-old injured his hamstring in training and will now join the likes of Rivaldo Coetzee and Sibusiso Vilakazi on the sidelines.

Coetzee made his debut for the Brazilians in the Champions League clash against Leones Vegetarianos in the preliminary round of the competitions before putting in an impressive performance against SuperSport United in their Tshwane derby.

Meanwhile, Vilakazi was in impressive form for Sundowns in the Absa Premiership before rupturing his Achilles tendon during Bafana Bafana’s practice match against SuperSport in October.

‘Rivaldo is out. [Motjeka] Madisha stepped on him at training. Unfortunately, it was an accident,’ Mosimane told the media.

‘We lost Mshishi at training through a hamstring. It’s unbelievable.’

Mamelodi Sundowns will now travel to the Petrosport Stadium when they take on Al Ahly Benghazi in the first round of the Caf Champions League on Sunday, with kick-off set for 5pm.
