Mamelodi Sundowns have learnt their opponents for the group stages of the Caf Champions League following the conclusion of the draw in Johannesburg.

The sixteen strong African football clubs have been put into four groups of four to play in the competition’s group stages. The first round of games is set for November 24th and 25th.

Mamelodi Sundowns, winners of the 2016 tournament, are in Group A with Pyramids FC of Egypt, TP Mazembe, winners of the 2015 tournament, and FC Nouadhibou of Mauritania.

Wydad Casablanca, the finalists from last season, is in Group B, along with Simba SC of Tanzania, Asec Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire, and Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana. These teams shocked big clubs across Africa by beating them on their way to the group stages.

Their country rivals, ES Sahel, are in Group C, which is also made up of Atletico Petroleos of Angola, Al Hilal of Sudan, and Esperance of Tunisia.

Al Ahly SC, the defending champions, will be in Group D with Algeria’s CR Belouizdad in a highly anticipated North African derby, Tanzania’s Young Africans, who came in second place in the CAF Confederation Cup, and Ghana’s Medeama, who will be looking to cause major upsets in the group.
