Kaizer Chiefs defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele will be hoping Amakhosi can secure their place in the Caf Champions League next season.

The Glamour Boys currently occupy fourth place in the Absa Premiership standings with 46 points, having won 12 out of 23 matches played so far this season, trailing log leaders Bidvest Wits by five points.

Steve Komphela’s side have four games left until the end of the season, including games against Golden Arrows, Polokwane City, Platinum Stars and Wits.

The 27-year-old has urged his side to secure their Caf Champions League spot for next season, even if they don’t go on to win the Absa Premiership title.

‘You never know what might happen… and obviously we want to go back to the Champions League next season,’ Mphahlele told KickOff.com.

‘So we will give it everything we have, we will play well against Arrows, Platinum, Wits and other teams that are remaining.

‘If we don’t win the league it’s fine… [and if] we make the Champions League it’s good for the squad and we will go and compete. So, all I can say is that the last four games are very important and very crucial for us so that we finish there with the top clubs.’

The former Mamelodi Sundowns defender has been an integral part of the Amakhosi squad this campaign, after netting two goals and assisting a further four from 28 appearances in all competitions.

Kaizer Chiefs are now set to play Golden Arrows when the two sides meet in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.

The match at the FNB Stadium kicks off at 20:15.
