Stellenbosch FC have announced that Simthandile Sishi has been promoted to the club’s first team squad ahead of the 2025-26 season.

The 20-year-old was promoted to the senior team after captaining the Diski team last season.

Sishi will now wear the No. 22 jersey during the 2025-26 season.

The defender becomes the third signing behind striker Muzomuhle Khanyi and Siviwe Nkwali.

“I’m very excited to sign a professional contract,” he said. “Playing in the DDC, winning the DDC, and taking part in the Next Gen Cup helped me grow as both a player and an individual, and I feel ready to make the step up.”

Stellenbosch FC released the following statement on the matter, which reads:

“Stellenbosch FC is pleased to announce the promotion of 20-year-old defender Simthandile Sishi to the first-team squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.”

“Sishi, who joined Stellenbosch in 2022, captained the club’s reserve team last season and played a prominent role in previous squads that lifted the DStv Diski Challenge and Premier League Next Generation Cup titles.

“Sishi, who also recently won Stellenbosch FC’s reserve team Sportsman of the Year award, will wear the No. 22 jersey for the club during the upcoming campaign.

“The Club looks forward to seeing Simthandile continue his development in Stellenbosch and make his mark at the highest level.”
