Scotland have replaced the Springboks in fifth position in the World Rugby rankings following their 25-13 win over England.

South Africa rose to fifth three weeks ago, but Scotland’s first victory against England in 10 years earned them a 1.47 rating points increase, enough to lift them above Wales and South Africa in the rankings.

The second-ranked England were docked 1.47 points, widening the gap between them and the All Blacks at the top to 4.61 points.

Ireland consolidated their position in third place in the rankings with a ratings increase of 0.36, while their victims, Wales, lost 0.36 of a point.

France’s 34-17 victory over Italy gained them 0.12 of a point, but it was not enough to see them climb higher than their current position of 10th.
