Bulls president Willem Strauss has confirmed that Rassie Erasmus is part of a four-man committee tasked with appointing the new Bulls coach.

The Springbok coach and SA Rugby director of rugby, along with Blikkies Groenewald (chairman of the Bulls’ coaching committee), Barend van Graan (CEO of the Blue Bulls Company) and Alan Zondagh (a former WP coach) are set to start looking at possible candidates this coming week to replace John Mitchell.

Strauss says it’s of utmost importance that the committee’s vetting process is done thoroughly.

‘The last thing we want is a repeat of the situation we had with John Mitchell and the English Rugby Union,’ Strauss told Netwerk24.

He added that while any further involvement from Erasmus will depend on who the head coach is, the Bok coach will add value to the Bulls set-up throughout Super Rugby.

‘Rassie won’t be a celebrity coach. It’s important that we bring stability back to the team. In that regard, Rassie’s expertise will be of immense value to us.’
