Former Orlando Pirates star Kermit Erasmus has been hailed by coach Christian Gourcuff for his technique and work rate.

Erasmus has spent six months in Europe adapting to the conditions and has now begun his first pre-season with French outfit Rennes.

The 26-year-old will be looking to carry his former into the new Ligue 1 season in the coming months.
Kermit is a worker. He’s always listening and then applies himself,’ coach Gourcuff told SoccerLaduma.

‘There is a lot of competition for his position, but he can fight for his place. In South Africa, he may have played on the side sometimes, but I think that would be difficult here.’

Gourcuff believes he has a good understanding of his player’s attributes as a player.

‘The position of striker is much better suited to his personal qualities. He has many qualities, but most importantly his vivacity and technique,’ the coach added.’

‘He is lively and clever, and while he may lack a bit of power, he must play to his strengths. He’s a lovely boy to have here, and he doesn’t pose any problems in a group. He’s appreciated,’ he coach concluded.’

Erasmus will be hoping to build upon the two Ligue 1 appearances he made last term, having joined Rennes half way through the season.
