Liverpool’s 17-year-old forward Ben Woodburn became the youngest ever scorer in the club’s history when he struck against Leeds United on Tuesday night.

Shortly after coming on as a second-half substitute for his second competitive senior appearance for the Reds, the 17-year-old guided a pass from Georginio Wijnaldum into the roof of the net from six yards out to help the Reds into the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.

Over the course of his club career, Woodburn has scored six times and assisted a further five from a total of 14 appearances in all competitions playing for the Liverpool U18 and senior team.

On an international level, he has played for both Wales U17 and U19 on 12 occasions, netting three goals and creating four assists so far. Woodburn is yet to make his senior national team debut.
