Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants his side to continue their upward trend in starting against Ludogorets in Sofia on Tuesday night.

Arsenal have started strongly this season, sitting second on the Premier League table, top of their Champions League group and with a spot already booked in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.

What will decide just how far the Gunners can go is their focus and hunger, says Wenger.

With November shaping up to be a crucial month, he stresses the importance of mental strength ahead of the Ludogorets match.

‘We have some very important games in front of us,’ Wenger told Arsenal.com.

‘But we need to continue to do what we’ve done until now by just focusing on the next game. We have to try to win tomorrow night and then we have Tottenham at home on Sunday.

‘The best way to prepare for that is for us to continue our strong run. It’s important to keep a good balance between vigilance and confidence.

‘We’ve had difficult Novembers in previous seasons, but we’ve also had positive ones in our history too,’ the Frenchman added.

‘The most important thing is to not live with the past, we have to live with the team we have at the moment.

‘Our destiny lies in the minds of the players, how strong our focus is and how hungry we are. We need to be like that in every single game, starting tomorrow.’

Arsenal will be without Nacho Monreal, Santi Cazorla, Hector Bellerin and Theo Walcott for the trip.

‘Who did not travel is Monreal, Cazorla and Bellerin, Walcott – both are more or less injuries,’ said Wenger.

‘Some of them being very close, like Walcott, Bellerin had a little incident in the last minute of training so they are not here. For us it’s a big game because as you said, if we win we can qualify. But if we lose, you can as well be in a difficult situation. So we know the importance of the game is massive.’

The match kicks off at 21:45.
