Premier League strugglers Watford have resisted the temptation to cash in on Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo.

According to Sky Sports, the Vicarage Road outfit was offered £37.5-million Ighalo by mega-rich Chinese side Shanghai SIPG.

Ighalo joined the club, initially on a season-long loan deal from Udinese, and scored 15 Premier League goals as the club returned to the top flight last season. The Nigerian international scored 17 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions and still has four years left on his current deal.

The club’s owners, the Pozzo family, are determined to keep his star players at the club after recently turning down a £25m bid for Ighalo’s strike partner Troy Deeney.

Leicester City reportedly offered Watford the chance to make a mammoth profit on Deeney, who joined from Walsall for just £250 000 six years ago. Further reports suggest that Leicester will up their bid to £30m in the coming days.

The same source reports that Watford will bring in two new players including a club record deal of £12.5-million for Isaac Success from Granada. Christian Kabasele from Genk is also expected to join the club ahead of the new season.
