A late penalty from Troy Deeney saw his side earn a point after playing out to a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Vicarage Road Stadium in the Premier League on Monday afternoon.

The  former England manager Sam Allardyce replaced Alan Pardew in charge of the London side forfirst Premier League game in charge of the Eagles.

The Eagles got off to a great start and broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when Yohan Cabaye put the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0.

After the first 45 minutes of play, Palace went into the half time interval with a 1-0 lead over Watford.

However, the Hornets drew level in the second half when Christian Benteke saw a penalty saved by Heurelho Gomes and was made to pay for his mistake late on when Troy Deeney converted for Watford to earn a share of the spoils.
