Former Manchester United star Paul Parker believes the club could fail to qualify for the Champions League unless they sign an additional three players.

The Red Devils have already splashed a truckload of cash to bring in the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly, as well as new world record signing Paul Pogba this window, but Parker remains unsatisfied with the squad.

According to the former defender, the Red Devils still need strengthening in a variety of positions.

‘They still need a centre forward and a centre half and another midfield player,’ Parker told 888Sport.

‘Manchester United aren’t finished yet; they can’t be because that present squad just isn’t going to win the league and Mourinho is all about winning the league,’ he added.

United eased to a 3-1 victory over Bournemouth in their opening game of the season but Parker was not impressed by what he saw.

‘Would you say United can even finish top four after what we saw in the Bournemouth game? I’d have to say not really.’

The defender expressed his concern that United’s Premier League rivals would pose a significant threat unless the team made further investments.

‘United have some work to do between now and the end of August to bring in at least three players to guarantee a Champions League spot and maybe win the league,’ he concluded.
