Daniel Sturridge insists he is ready to ‘step up’ to the challenge when England take on Iceland in the Last 16 of Euro 2016 on Monday.

Roy Hodgson’s side face their first winner-takes-all fixture of the tournament in Nice tomorrow, with Sturridge one of five Liverpool stars vying for a place in the starting line-up, reports the Liverpool website.

The 26-year-old striker insists that he enjoys the pressure that comes with playing in big games.

‘I love playing big games, it’s the best feeling,’ Sturridge said.

‘When you’re in the situations where everything’s on the line and someone’s got to step up.’

The Liverpool strikers went on to say that he confidence comes from enjoying football rather than dwelling on mistakes made during a match.

‘When I’m playing I try to have as much fun as I can because this doesn’t last forever,’ he added.

‘When I’m on the pitch, I don’t worry if I give the ball away, I don’t worry if I miss a chance, I don’t worry if things aren’t going well for me because I’m having fun.’

During the European Championship Sturridge has score one goal from four appearances for the Three Lions, helping them advance into the Round of 16.

England will now take on Iceland in the Euro 2016 Last 16 encounter at Allianz Riviera on Monday.

Kick-off has been set for 21:00
