Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 0-0 goalless draw by Bayer Leverkusen in their Champions League Group F encounter at the BayArea on Tuesday.

The Lilywhites should’ve taken the lead in the 27th minute when Dele Alli had the first opportunity at goal but his headed effort went just wide of the upright from close range.

Spur had another opportunity to take the lead in the 38th minute when Janssen rattled the crossbar with a towering header before Erick Lamela was denied by a superb save from goalkeeper Bernd Leno on the rebound.

Meanwhile, the Bundesliga side was on the back foot for most of the first half and failed to carve out any clear-cut chances to threaten the Spurs goal.

However, Spurs thought they might have taken the lead shortly after the break but goal-line technology revealed the whole ball did not cross the line.

Leverkusen had a chance of their own to breaking the deadlock in the 85th minute, but Stefan Kiessling stuffed up his effort from six yards out.

However, the score remained goalless after the final whistle as both earned a share of the spoils, with Leverkusen yet to get their first victory in the group stages.
