Sensational Spain cruise to win

Spain showed their class on Friday night as they stormed to a 3-0 win in Nice.

Following on from their last gap 1-0 win in their opening game, Spain would’ve been eager to start strongly against a spirited Turkey side. Neither side created much in the way of chances in the opening 20 minutes as both sides attempted to gain a foothold into proceedings.

Haka Calhanoglu had the match’s first real chance but his free kick from 25 metres out sailed over David De Gea’s bar in the 25th minute. It was Spain who wasted the next chance as Sergio Busquets fed Nolito but the veteran forward curled his effort wide of the target.

Nolito would go on to provide the match’s first goal as his in-swinging cross found the head of Alvaro Morata who made no mistake with eight minutes to play in the first half.

It was Nolito once again who was in the spotlight as he stroked home after Mehmet Topal’s miscued clearance to give Spain a 2-0 lead at the break. It was his fifth goal in as many fixtures as Turkey were completely outplayed and enjoyed just 36% of possession in the first 45 minutes.

Morata added another in the 48th minute after some slick build up play his side, Spain becoming the first side in Euro 2016 to score 3 goals in one match. Nolito and Morata taking their tally to seven of their side’s last 8 goals.

Three goals to the good Spain took their foot off the gas somewhat as they coasted for the rest of the second half. Their dynamic performance laying down a marker for the rest of the favourites for Euro 2016.
