Manchester United suffered their second successive league defeat at Watford as Wayne Rooney continued his Premier League struggles.

The United captain was again one of the worst players on the park as he failed to find any rhythm or manner in which to make a meaningful impact on proceedings.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match centre, Rooney made just 60 touches during his 90 minutes at Vicarage Road. Despite the calls from fans to drop the England international from the linuep, Jose Mourinho continues to start Rooney with little success.

Rooney began the match in a midfield role before ending as a number 10 but produced little in attack as Watford finished strongly to secure the win; their first at home over United in 30 years.

Rooney misplaced seven of his four passes attempted, one just one of his four defensive duels, fired off a single (off-target) shot and was successful with just two of his seven crosses in what turned out to be a disastrous afternoon for the player and his team.

To cap off his torried time, Rooney was shown a yellow card for dissent as the seconds ticked away before Troy Deeney battered in his 95th minute penalty to send the home fans into hysterics and Rooney sulking down the tunnel.
