Al Nassr superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his ambition to break another record by becoming the most capped player in history ahead of Portugal’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Liechtenstein.

The 38-year-old was included in Roberto Martinez’s initial Portugal squad despite being dropped from the starting lineup for Portugal’s final World Cup matches in Qatar.

Ronaldo already holds the world record for men’s international goals with 118, and the European men’s record for appearances with 196, tying him with Kuwait’s Bader Al-Mutayyad for the world record.

“Records are my motivation,” Ronaldo told reporters.

“I want to become the most capped player in history. That would make me proud.

“But it doesn’t stop there, I still want to be called up very often.”

Ronaldo began his international career in August 2003 against Kazakhstan in a friendly, and he has represented Portugal in every international competition since Euro 2004.

Sunday, after the Portugal-Liechtenstein match, Portugal will play Luxembourg.
