Pitso Mosimane’s representatives, MT Sports, have released a statement on social media revealing that the coach has agreed terms on a new contract with Al Ahly but they are awaiting a formal response on the status of the contract.

Mosimane is reportedly on the verge of signing a new and improved deal with the Egyptian giants despite certain sections of the local media questioning the delay in the deal.

The former Bafana Bafana coach’s contract saga with Al Ahly has been churning in the media in recent weeks and his management agency, Mason Tyler Sports, came out on Friday to set the record straight.

Their statement read:

“The reports that have been circulating in the media and in particular on social media platforms regarding Coach Pits Mosimane’s contract negotiations with Al Ahly SC are factually incorrect.

“Some members of the media and the so-called pundits within the football community have been making a concerted effort to drive a negative narrative regarding the contract negotiations. These comments are directed at our Managing Director, Ms Moira TIhagale, who is the agent of the coach. It is also disappointing to see how they are trying to cause a rift between all the relevant parties; the club, the agent, the coach and in particular, the supporters.

“The fact is, the terms of the contract have all been agreed upon between the Al Ahly SC representative and the agent, Ms TIhagale. The speculation by media and in particular on social media platforms is unfounded.

“Out of respect for Al Ahly SC, we will wait for their formal response on the status of the contract. We will comment if and when necessary.

“Our Coach is committed to continuing his role as the Head Coach of Al Ahly SC. We, as MT Sports, his management agency, are committed to ensuring that we meet his mandate. We appeal to the media and the so-called pundits to please refrain from creating unnecessary tensions within this relationship that has been able to deliver groundbreaking results to date.”
