Three-time World Cup winner and Brazil legend Pele has offered advice to young England star Marcus Rashford ahead of the Euro 2016 tournament in France.

The 18-year-old Manchester United starlet has enjoyed a fairytale season. Having scored on both his Premier League and Europa League debuts for the Red Devils, the youngster also became England’s youngest ever debutant scorer when he netted after just three minutes against Australia last Friday.

Now, Three Lions coach Roy Hodgson has picked the striker in his European Championship squad, a choice that seemingly echoes Pele’s selection for the Selecao at the tender age of 17, back in 1958.

‘Today it doesn’t matter about age,’ Pele said. ‘It is important to be prepared. But never, never, never be afraid.

‘I wish him the same luck that I had in my life.’

Pele has recommended that the young star trust himself and his abilities.

‘There is big pressure but I think he has to have confidence and trust himself.

‘Before I won the World Cup first time, I was told by my coaches: “You are here because you have a style, you are a good player, don’t be afraid because the other players are older than you.” That is my message [to Rashford] too.’

England have been drawn in Group B for the tournament. There, they will come up against the likes of Slovakia, Russia, and Wales.

The Three Lion’s first match sees them face Russia on June 11 at the Stade Velodrome, Marseille.
