Arsenal warmed up for the new Premier League season with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Mexican side Chivas de Guadalajara in the early hours of Monday morning.

It was a chance for the Gunners new signings to get their first run out for their new side as defender Rob Holding and midfielder Granit Xhaka impressed.

The first chance of the match fell to Chivas as Jorge Benitez tried an effort after just three minutes but Arsenal soon found their rhythm and began to exert their dominance.

Dedos Lopez came close with a curling effort for Chivas in the 21st minute before Xhaka came close to playing in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Lopez was causing problems for Arsenal as he had another effort around the half-hour mark before Theo Walcott had a good chance for the Gunners. Then, with 34 minutes gone, Arsenal broke the deadlock. New-boy Holding was the scorer as the ball fell kindly following a free kick.

With Santi Cazorla and Xhaka impressing with their passing and movement, it was Oxlade-Chamberlain who struck next. The attacker drilled home a shot three minutes into the second-half following a fine individual run.

The match was all but settled six minutes later as youngster Chuba Akpom grabbed a third for the Gunners after being played in down the right. Akpom had a chance to added a second before Mathieu Debuchy gave away a penalty as the clipped the heels of an attacker.

The spot kick was duly put away by Angel Zaldiva. With the game steadily winding down following the goal, it proved a mere consolation.
