Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was delighted with his side’s performance and ability to score goals against West Ham United in the EFL Cup quarter-final on Wednesday.

The Red Devils ran out 4-1 winners at Old Trafford via a brace by both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Anthony Martial to set up a semi-final clash with Hull City.

His side’s form in front of goal, and also their overall performance, pleased the Portuguese manager.

‘We won comfortably with beautiful, attacking football. Goals plus performance equals real happiness. I’m pleased with the result because the performance is something that we’re used to,’ Mourinho told the Manchester United website. ‘

‘We are playing very, very well at home and this was more of the same.’

After conceding the equalising goal, Mourinho believes United gained second-half confidence and converted their chances in the final third.

‘I think that, after their goal, we had 10 minutes where we felt it. The players couldn’t hide that because West Ham equalised with their first shot, but in the second half the team got the confidence to play again.’

Manchester United will return to the Premier League to face Everton on Sunday.

The match at Goodison Park kicks off at 18:00.
