Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says that the ‘football Einsteins’ are wrong to write off his side after suffering three defeats in a bad week of results.

The Red Devils recently secured a 3-1 victory over Northampton Town in the EFL Cup third round at Sixfields Stadium on Wednesday.

Mourinho’s side started the season superbly and will look to ensure positive results in their next three home fixtures against Leicester City, Zorya Luhansk, and Stoke City.

‘It’s always good to be at home,’ Mourinho told the Manchester United website.

‘I can understand completely the disappointment for the fans with the last week but I’m sure, back at home, they will be behind the team like they always are.

However, Mourinho feels there was an unbalanced reaction to his side’s defeats against Manchester City, Feyenoord, and Watford in the media.

‘We had a bad week. I know that some football Einsteins, they tried to delete 16 years of my career and delete an unbelievable history of Manchester United Football Club and focus on a bad week and three bad results. But that’s the new football – it’s full of Einsteins,’ he added.

Manchester United against Leicester City kicks off at 13:30.
