Serbia midfielder Nemanja Matic looks poised to remain at Chelsea following manager Antonio Conte convinced him he is part of his plans for the 2016-17 season.

The Serbian midfielder was poised to push for a £30-million move to Juventus following N’Golo Kante’s £32-million move  from Leicester City.

However, Conte and Chelsea did not want the 28-year-old to leave, and the manager has told Matic that he wants him to play alongside Kante in a new-look midfield, according to Express.

The Blues will be hoping that Matic will commit his future to the club, while the Old Lady have now turned their attention to Paris St Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba.

Matic had several meetings with their Chelsea hierarchy as owner Roman Abramovich made it clear he supported Conte’s position.

Over the course of his career, Matic has scored 20 goals and assisted a further 17 from 307 appearances playing for the likes of Kolubara, Kosice, Chelsea, Vitesse, and Benfica.
