Manchester City have agreed to let defender Eliaquim Mangala leave for Serie A side Napoli on a season-long loan.

The French international join the Blues from Portuguese side FC Porto for £32-million back in 2014 and has since created two assists from 61 appearances in all competition.

The 25-year-old defender is reportedly deemed surplus to requirements by City manager Pep Guardiola, who has already signed John Stones summer from Everton, according to The Times.

This may help fellow Premier League side Chelsea in their bid to sign Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.

Over the course of his career, Mangala has netted 15 times and assisted a further 13 from 255 appearances playing for the likes of Standard Liege, FC Porto, and Manchester City.

On an international level, the defender has been capped eight times for France since making his senior debut in his side’s 1-0 defeat against Uruguay in 2013.
