Leicester City duo Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy have been ranked 7th and 8th respectively in the Ballon d’Or voting on Monday.

The prestigious award which is handed to the best player in the world as voted for by journalists was ultimately won by Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who claimed the award for the fourth time.

However, the Foxes pair Mahrez and Vardy were also included in the top-10 shortlist for their achievements during the 2015-16 campaign under the guidance of manager Claudio Ranieri.

Mahrez netted 17 goals while Vardy scored 24 in the Premier League last season which prompted Leicester to go on to win their first league title in their 132-years of existence just two years after winning promotion to the EPL.

Mahrez has also been named the BBC African Footballer of the Year on Monday and he was presented with the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award in May, while Vardy was crowned Premier League Player of the Season.

Leicester City will now be hoping to continue their winning ways when they play Bournemouth on Tuesday.

The match at Vitality Stadium kicks off at 21:45.
