Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri says he will check on the fitness of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel ahead their Premier League clash against Manchester United on Saturday.

The 29-year-old suffered a concussion in training last week and missed the Foxes Premier League clash with Burnley and the EFL Cup clash with Chelsea, according to the Leicester City website.

The Italian manager has revealed that Schmeichel has a muscular problem and the City boss will assess his fitness ahead of the game.

‘Kasper is good,’ Ranieri said.

‘Today (Thursday) he made some training session but he felt a little pain to a muscle so tomorrow I will check.

‘Let me check tomorrow. If it is nothing serious then he will come and play, if not he will stay at home.’

Meanwhile, Ranieri also confirmed that Yohan Benalouane will feature for the club’s reserve team in their Premier League 2 clash with Manchester City on Friday.

‘He is fit and tomorrow he will play against Man City. I watched him just 20 minutes and I can’t change,’ he added.

‘I brought him on the bench [for Chelsea] and maybe the last 10 minutes I would give him the chance but it wasn’t possible. I believe in the player and sooner or later he is ready.’

Kick-off has been set for 13:30.
