French midfielder Nampalys Mendy has described his move to Leicester City as a dream come true.

The 24-year-old helped Nice to a fourth-placed finish in Ligue 1 last season before he made the switch to the Premier League champions for an undisclosed fee.

The midfielder met with a number of his new team-mates during his first training session with the club on Monday, he is excited to be working under Ranieri for the second time in his career, having already done so at Monaco, reports the Leicester City website.

‘I feel good,’ Mendy said.

‘It’s my first day and I feel very happy. Claudio [Ranieri] is a very good coach – I like his strong mentality and how the team plays together.

Mendy insists the prospect of playing in both the Premier League and the Champions League for the first time is a dream come true.

‘I’m excited to play in the Premier League because it’s my first season in it. I came from France and today I’m at a Premier League club – it’s my dream,’ he added.

‘The Champions League also – I’ve never played in the Champions League so it’ll be my first time and I’m very excited and I believe in the team.

‘The Premier League is physically stronger and it’s faster and in Ligue 1, it’s more about tactics and technique, so it’s very different. I like to always fight and I play for the team. I play with my head also,’ he concluded.

The midfielder has made a total of 200 appearances for Nice during his three years at the club, during which he helped them improve to 17th, 11th, and fourth-placed finishes across those campaigns, as well as qualifying for Europa League qualification.
