Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho admitted that his first goal following his side’s 4-3 victory over Arsenal was the finest free-kick he has ever scored.

The Brazilian levelled the score at 1-1 at Emirates Stadium in the dying seconds of the first half, sending his unstoppable curling effort into the top left corner.

It was a strike of breath-taking skill and it helped to turn the game in Liverpool’s favour after Theo Walcott – who had already seen a penalty saved by Simon Mignolet – put the Gunners ahead, reports the Liverpool website.

However, Adam Lallana put the Reds ahead before, Coutinho converted Nathaniel Clyne’s cross for a third and Sadio Mane scored on his debut at the end of a solo run through the Arsenal defence.

The Gunners set up an intense second half by responding with goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers, but Jurgen Klopp’s men went on to secured the victory.

The 24-year-old insists the way his side performed at the Emirates will give them confidence ahead of their next match.

‘[It gives us] confidence, not only for me but the whole team,’ Coutinho said.

‘We played a difficult game and played really well. Now we have to focus on the next game, step by step and keep going.

‘In the first 20 minutes, we didn’t play very well, in the way the manager wanted. Then we showed we are fit, we were training hard in pre-season. We had a good second half.’

The former Inter Milan midfielder revealed that his free kick against the Gunners was one of his best set pieces he has ever take.

However, Coutinho admits that they fought a tough battle to claim all three points away from home and he believes his side are now focusing on their next match against newly promoted side Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.

‘I think it was my best one. I keep trying,’ he added.

‘It was a good game, a tough game and we are happy because we won. Now we have to focus on the next game.’

Kick-off has been set for 16:00.
