Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened his Manchester United account with a stunning bicycle kick as the Reds defeated Turkish side Galatasaray 5-2 in Gothenburg on Saturday.

Ibrahimovic, who made his debut for United in his home country as he delivered early for the Reds, scoring an acrobatic opening goal after just four minutes at the Ullevi Stadium.

Galatasaray struggled to get going in the opening minutes of the game but found the equaliser with their very first chance of the match as Sinan Gumus headed in Wesley Sneijder’s excellent free-kick cross in the 22nd minute.

Galatasaray defender Jeffrey Bruma scored a classy second from the edge of the box in the 40th minute to give the Turkish club a 2-1 lead going into the half-time break.

United captain Wayne Rooney’s clever flicked  in the 55th minute levelled the match, and it was Rooney who found the back of the net for a second time three minutes later after Marcus Rashford had won a penalty at the end of a sparkling run.

Gala were dealt a further blow when Marouane Fellaini looped a header over the goalkeeper from an Antonio Valencia cross in the 62nd minute.

Juan Mata extended his side’s lead when he poked the ball past the Gala shot-stopper in the 74th minute.

The win gives Jose Mourinho’s side plenty of confidence ahead of their Community Shield  clash against Premier League champions Leicester City at Wembley.
