Eden Hazard starred for Chelsea as they clinched a 2-1 victory over London rivals West Ham United in their Premier League opener at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

The Blues playmaker opened the scoring at Stamford Bridge with a penalty early in the second half, before James Collins equalised in the 77th minute.

However, Costa arguably should have been shown a second yellow card after catching West Ham goalkeeper Adrian with a late challenge, but stayed on to steer a dramatic late winner into the bottom-left corner from 20 yards out in the 89th minute.

The 25-year-old was key in attack for Chelsea, taking three shots at goal, with two on Target while Hazard saw one attempt on target, with two shots coming from inside the Hammers penalty area and one shot coming from outside the are.

According to SASoccermag’s Opta-powered match stats, Eden Hazard managed to complete a total of 81 touches on the ball while winning 10 out of 16 duels after spending 85 minutes on the field.

The Belgium international completed 45 out of 55 passes, with 40% coming from the right, 25.5 coming from down the centre and 21.8% coming from the BlueS defence.

Hazard successfully completed one out of two crosses while creating one chance in attack for Chelsea. The Former Lille midfielder also managed to win one foul for his side.

Chelsea controlled the match and had the best possession (61.8%), while West Ham could only manage 38.2% of the possession.

Meanwhile, The Blues had more shots on goal than the Hammers, producing 16 chances at goal compared to 7 efforts respectively.

Chelsea will now travel to Vicarage Road when they take on Watford on Saturday, while West Ham United will welcome Bournemouth to the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

Kick-off has been set for 16:00 and 17:00 respectively.
