Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini says he is confident his side will do well against Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Belgium international has scored two goals in his last five appearances and played a vital part in United’s recent and crucial 1-1 equaliser against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Fellaini says that his recent goals against Wigan Athletic and Hull City has boosted his confidence ahead of their next Premier League encounter.

‘I’ve played forward more, which is good,’ Fellaini told the Manchester United website.

‘I’ve been scoring for the team, so hopefully I can keep going. I have to give everything when the manager gives me that chance. It’s good for my confidence; it’s always good to score a goal.’

The Hornets also won the reverse fixture against the Reds 3-1 at Vicarage Road in September, so Fellaini is well aware this weekend’s encounter won’t be a walk-over.

The 29-year-old says he is well aware of the threat that the Hornets represent after they beat United 3-1 in the reverse fixture at Vicarage Road in September.

‘We lost to Watford last time, so all the players will be looking to bounce back,’ he added.

‘They are a strong and physical team and it will be tough. They will defend and counter-attack so we will have a lot of the ball.

‘All the Premier League teams can be tough to play against, but we have the quality and the players. Most importantly, we’re at home so we should do well.’

Manchester United will welcome Watford next at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday.

Kick-off has been set for 17:00.
