Brazil coach Dunga has spoken in the aftermath of his side’s shock loss to Peru.

The Selecao were eliminated following a controversial goal as Peru’s Raul Ruidiaz appeared to knock the ball over the line using his arm.

‘Everyone saw what happened. We cannot change what everyone saw,’ Dunga said, reports ESPN.

‘I do not understand why they were four minutes talking about the referee and the assistant then resolved nothing. Brazil was eliminated not playing football,’ the former player added.

Brazil had required just a point to confirm their place in the quarter-finals, but Peru’s win means it was they who join the likes of the  United States, Colombia, and Ecuador in the next round, with the final round of fixtures in Groups C and D yet to be played.

Referee Andres Cunha had given the goal on first viewing, but was then draw into a lengthy four minute consultation with his linesman, as the Brazilian players and staff furiously protested the decision. Ultimately, however, he chose to stick with the ruling.

Brazil were unable to overturn the deficit, ultimately falling to a costly defeat that saw them eliminated from the tournament.

The Selecao will be hoping to bounce back before they host the Rio 2016 Olympics.
