Attacking midfielder Andre Schurrle has sealed a move to Borussia Dortmund from present club Wolfsburg.

The move for the player comes merely a day after the side announced the resigning of Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich.

Schurrle, a former Chelsea player, has penned a five-year deal at the German runners-up as the side seeks to close the gap on Bayern.

Schurrle has scored 20 goals for Germany in 55 matches for the national team and was part of the squad that won the World Cup back in 2014.

‘Borussia Dortmund is one of the top clubs in Europe with a strong and extremely exciting squad,’ Schurrle told the club’s website.

‘I know from personal experience just how much power Dortmund has developed through the interaction with fans, and I look forward now to be able to experience everything, not as an awestruck opponent, but as part of the club.’

The winger has expressed his ambition to win titles with the side.

‘In the coming years I want to celebrate success with Borussia Dortmund and I’m going to start training to convince people that it was right to sign me,’ he concluded.

Schurrle made 29 appearances in the Bundesliga last term, scoring nine times and assisting three.
