Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the chairman of Manchester City, expects inbound manager Pep Guardiola to revolutionise the Sky Blues.

Guardiola has been enormously successful in his career to date, having claimed 21 trophies in his time with Bayern Munich in Germany and Barcelona in Spain, including two Champions League triumphs.

Critics have pointed to Guardiola’s talent-packed squads during those tenures, believing the manager’s task was eased by the quality at his disposal but Al Mubarak is confident Guardiola will continue in a similar vein at the head of City.

‘I am absolutely excited about Pep joining our team. I consider Pep to be one of the best, if not the best, manager today in football,’ he told CityTV.

‘We are getting a manager that epitomises, in my view, passion and commitment.’

Al Mubarak is confident Guardiola can take City to new heights during his tenure.

‘The trophies … he has won every single club competition out there, from Champions League to La Liga, the Bundesliga, to the respective cups in both leagues he has played.

‘We are getting a proven winner, a passionate man, someone I think will be an incredible asset to Manchester City and I have no doubt that he will transform our team to a whole new level.’
