Manchester City have announced the signing of Chilean goalkeeper Claudio Bravo from Barcelona for a fee worth £17.1-million.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper now joins the Blues after signing a four-year contract.

Bravo brings a wealth of experience including back-to-back La Liga titles with Barca and successive Copa America triumphs with Chile, reports the Manchester City website.

The Chilean captain says he jumped at the chance of working under Pep Guardiola again and he insists that he will fight for a place to become City’s number one goalkeeper.

‘I’m very proud to be joining Manchester City. I know the Club is building something very special and I hope I can be part of many successes in the coming years.

‘It is not easy to leave a club like Barcelona where I had two fantastic years, but the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola was too good to refuse.

‘Now I will challenge the other great goalkeepers the Club has and together I hope we can win many trophies.’

Over the course of his career, Bravo has scored one goal and kept 119 clean sheets from 312 appearances in all competitions playing for La Liga side’s Real Sociedad and Barcelona.

Bravo has managed to rack up a total of 106 appearances for his national team since making his debut in July 2011.
