Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he has been impressed with the Blues level they have reached and he insists they can get even better this season.

A brace from Raheem Sterling and a goal by Fernandinho was enough to secure a 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Sunday.

However, Michail Antonio’s headed goal gave West Ham hope of salvaging a draw, but Sterling’s second goal continued an impressive start to Guardiola’s reign, reports the Premier League website.

Guardiola says there is more to come from his side, but has been impressed with the level his team has reached during his time at the club.

‘We can play better, no doubt about that,’ Guardiola said.

‘We are just two months here, not too much and I didn’t expect to play in this short time, like this.

“We played good first half. After we received the goal from West Ham from their first chance, we had the mentality to control our emotions very well.’

Manchester City will now travel to Old Trafford when they take on Manchester United in the Premier League on September 10.

Kick-off has been set for 13:30.
