Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Portuguese goalkeeper Eduardo from Dinamo Zagreb.

The 33-year-old was a part of Portugal’s triumphant Euro 2016 squad this summer and joins the Blues on a one-year contract following two seasons with the Croatian champions, reports the Chelsea website.

The former Benfica shot-stopper says it was an easy decision to join one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League and he feels he is ready for his new challenge.

‘Having the opportunity to come to the Premier League and to Chelsea, to such a big club, it is an easy decision to make,’ Eduardo said.

‘For me, this is the best and the most difficult league and it is another level from where I have been until now. So it is a new challenge, at this moment I feel very good, so I am ready for this.’

Eduardo continued to say that he is delighted to have signed for the Blues and he will be hoping that he can meet Antonio Conte’s expectations.

‘All the colleagues I have always say the dream is to come to the Premier League, where there are the best clubs and the best players, and the opportunity to come here arrived at this moment,’ he added.

‘I am happy to be here and I hope I meet the expectations people have for me.’

Over the course of his career, Eduardo has kept a total of 135 clean sheets from 344 appearances in all competitions playing for the likes of Braga, Vitoria Setubal, Genoa, Benfica, Medipol Basaksehir, and Dinamo Zagreb.

Eduardo has 35 international caps in total and will provide experienced cover and competition for Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic.
