Hosts Brazil and the impressive German side have progressed to the quarter-final stage of Rio 2016, while the United States face Sweden in the women’s draw.

The star-studded Brazilians, led by inspirational superstar forward Neymar, have struggled to gel in front of their home fans but finally showed their potential as they blasted four past Denmark to finish top of their group.

Germany, meanwhile, made a mockery of Fiji as they hit 10 goals in their final group stage game but will face the daunting prospect of Portugal in next.

With South Africa having failed to progress from Group A, Nigeria are Africa’s sole representative left in the games. The side will go head-to-head with Denmark for a place in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, reigning World Cup and Olympic champions the United States are the team to beat in the women’s draw.

The side will face a tough test as they come up against the sixth-ranked side in the world in Sweden, while second-ranked Germany are expected saunter past China.
